A few weeks back I shared with you about how I start my morning with Millstone® Coffee, in particular with the House Blend. This week I want to share with you about their latest dark roast, Mayan Black Onyx.
As I shop for coffee, typically I always lean to the lighter roast coffees. I am one of those coffee lovers that prefers more cream than coffee, you know that saying that says “I’ll take a little coffee with my cream,” that’s me! So, as I shop for coffee, generally I go for lighter roast. Recently though, I discovered how much I love a dark roast coffee when it is paired correctly.
This particular morning, I had some delicious gluten free chocolate doughnuts waiting for me that I thought would taste great dipped in a delicious coffee or paired alongside a coffee. I brewed the Mayan Black Onyx then of course I added a little cream and sugar to it. I sat down to enjoy a few quiet minutes before our day started and enjoyed my sweet treat with the coffee. The flavor was fabulous.
I am actually not quite sure I can go back to having a doughnut now without my dark roast coffee, especially a chocolate doughnut. That could be a bad thing, I may be craving doughnuts more than I actually should be. This particular doughnut had a hard chocolate coating on it, so I dipped it in the coffee and it gave the doughnut a bit of melt to it with the coffee soaking it, divine. I’m getting hungry just thinking about it again.
The Mayan Black Onyx is a full-bodied blend with a nice, rich finish using 100% Arabica beans. Chocolate flavors pair really well with dark-roast and actually that is my preference. I like to keep the lighter roast for more fruit filled, lighter foods.
Have you tried either the House Blend or Mayan Black Onyx from Millstone®? I suggest you try it soon, you will certainly fall in love with it. Also, be sure to follow along on social media at #MillstoneCoffee!
