Making a roast in the Ninja Foodi, using the air crisp function, does take some time and steps; however, if you may have forgotten to put the crockpot on in the morning, this is a great alternative method to use.
We paired this roast with Air Fryer Roasted Carrots and Potatoes.
Tips for Making Ninja Foodi Beef Roast:
This method does take some steps and patience, but it’s also very easy. The first thing you will want to do is preheat the Ninja Foodi on air crisp for about 5 minutes, then place the roast in the air fryer to sear the outside.
It’s best to spray the basket with a cooking oil spray. I typically use olive oil cooking spray without an issue; however, if you prefer a higher smoke point, use an oil such as grapeseed oil.
The roast does need to be cooked from a thawed state. Be sure to let it thaw out before cooking.
It’s also best to season it, we use Weber Steak Seasoning on the roast and it was wonderful.
Remember to follow the recipe card completely, as the gravy packet is not made per the instructions on it. If you need to make it gluten-free, be sure to use a gluten-free brown gravy packet.
Once the roast is fully cooked, you’ll have drippings in the foil that can be used for gravy.

Can you put aluminum foil in the Ninja Foodi?
This works the best with a sheet of aluminum foil under it, this is what catches the gravy and liquid that is poured over the roast.
Foil can be used in the air fryer or Ninja Foodi, but it needs to be rolled up on the sides so that air can fully circulate.
Now, are you ready for this Ninja Foodi Beef Roast? Time to eat up!

- Once the cooking time is up, prepare a sheet of foil to place the roast on.
- Carefully remove the roast from the ninja foodi and place it on the foil.
- Roll up the foil around the sides of the roast and place it back into the basket of the ninja foodi.
- At this point, be sure the foil is up around the sides so the air can circulate.

Thanks! I just got a Ninja for Xmas and we’re recent RV’rs …. Learning new way of.. lol everything in the golden years, ha during pandemic.
I will be checking out your recipes regularly!!!
Thanks so much for the help!
I’m making my roast tonight and crossing my fingers…
How neat!! We’d love to be Rv’rs someday too!! I hope you enjoy this and let me know if you have any questions!
Do you have a recipe for the sp301?
Which setting and for how long? I have a sear crisp, air roast, air fry?
This should work the same way in that one, you’d use Air Crisp or Air Fry.
How do I make a rare roast beef in the Ninja? I have the model that roasts, air frys, bake and grills. It also had the temperature probe.
You’d do it similar to this but not cooked quite as long if you want it more rare. You’d use the air crisp function.
How would you cook the carrots and potatoes along with the roast?
If you do this in the air fryer you would want to add in the veggies in about 20-30 minutes left of cook time.
Just made the beef roast, it was so good
My daughter love it and she is picky sometimes.
I will definitely be making this again I usually put it in the crockpot but not no more.
I think you have noted some very interesting points , appreciate it for the post.
How come you do not use the Roast function and is air crisp and air fry the same thing?
The roast function takes several hours to cook. The Air Crisp is the same as Air Fry, so any recipe that is for the air fryer, you can make it the same way just use air crisp.
Do you have to cook it longer to be able to shred the beef instead of slice?
If you want it more shredded, I would probably do the slow cooker where it’s cooked low and slow or the pressure cooker.
This came right on time!
This recipe is so easy to follow. My toast came out tender and delicious with plenty of gravy.
Worst recipe ever….I followed the recipe exactly. Roast was not done in the middle. Ended up throwing a $25 roast in the garbage.
You probably could have, at the very least, wrapped in foil and continued in oven. I don’t have enough experience with my Ninji Foodie yet to advise with that but sorry you threw out the roast.
Do you have to use the tray and foil? I want to cook in basket with no foil or tray. Will that work?
I haven’t tried it that way, so it would be testing it. I use the foil to hold the liquid otherwise for my air fryer the liquid would run out.
