As we head into the holidays remember to make a stocking for the pups too!
This past year we introduced a new member to our family, a four-legged friend. That means we need another stocking plus some tasty treats for her as we welcome her to the family. Of course, her big gift for the holidays is “Doggy Training Class,” I’m sure she’s thrilled, don’t you think? Well, her owners are!
Of course, along with that we wanted to make her the perfect stocking that is full of tasty treats and toys. The kids and I headed to Walmart and picked up Milk-Bone Original Dog Snacks and Pup-Peroni snacks. Since we have two dogs, I decided to grab the Milk-Bone Flavor Snacks in the 7-pound size, this way we have enough to last a while. Then, I took those and put a few in little Santa bags to put in their stockings.
These biscuits come in 5 delicious flavors and they are made right here in the USA. The perfect option for us because they are for dogs of all sizes and we have a really large dog and a medium-sized dog. That means one snack works for both of them.
Next up, our dogs love that real beef Pup-Peroni Original Beef Flavor. They are usually chomping at the bit as soon as they smell the aroma drift through the air. I love that they are soft and chewy and we can break them into smaller pieces for training too, which is perfect since that’s the other part of her gift.
The perfect treats are the most important part of the stocking; trust me the pups would say this too.
Now, as we built our stockings we, of course, had to pick a few toys up too.
Make a Stocking for the Pups
- Milk-Bone Flavor Treats
- Pup-Peroni
- Tennis Balls
- Ropes
- Chew Toys
Remember, you can always add little treat bags inside with the treats in smaller portion sizes. We went out and shared them with our dogs and they were both in love with the treats. Our newest addition even gave our daughter some smooches as she tried to let her open up her stocking.
My son loves that he can use the treats to get the dogs to do tricks, he’s just getting the hang of it now but it’s fun to watch him grow up right along with our pups. We may even let him take part in the dog training classes as well so he can watch the trainers do their jobs and work with the pups.
Sometimes it’s crazy to think that our larger dog is going to be 11 this next year, and I can’t believe that we had her before the kids were even born. Then, to think of how old our kids will be when our new pup is that age is just a little crazy to think about.
College…they will be out of school! I can’t even wrap my mind around that.
The pups, though, are truly part of our family and we love every second with them. Of course, I think they love chasing squirrels the most, they have quite the system down, but they can always stop for some loving from us and a few tasty treats too!
What are you putting in your pups stocking? I’d love to hear even more ideas.
Be sure to stop by Walmart and pick up all you need for the pups stockings including the stocking itself too!
Happy Holidays!
