Last week, I mentioned that I shopped Kmart to decorate my tabletop. Along, with shopping Kmart I also was provided with a trim kit complete with all the trimmings for the tree and the mission was to give it to a deserving person and decorate it forward.
I initially had someone else in mind for this mission because I was choosing a retro style Christmas trim kit; however, due to what was available I ended up with a Country Living trim kit. When I saw this trim kit, I did not think it was really the style of the person I had in mind, but I knew my mom would love it! I also knew that she was debating buying a new tree this year.
When my sister and I moved out of my mom’s house, she downsized her Christmas tree to very small little tree. As the grand kids are now getting older she wanted a bigger tree again; however, she did not have what she needed to decorate it. This was sure to be a surprise to her because I had an entire trim kit waiting for her!
I am thrilled to be apart of this and decorate it forward, my parents have done so much for us over the years it felt good to give back and be able to say Merry Christmas. My mom was so happy, she has never had a tree that all coordinated before, in the past they were always a hod podge of ornaments.
This is what we started with the tree skirt was apart of the kit, so we put that on first then we were ready to start decorating.
My son enjoyed helping out too with cookie in hand of course!
My mom made sure the bow was fit perfectly on top of the tree. She is great when it comes to bows!
Next it was time to enjoy our beautiful tree that we decorated together.
The final step to admire our work!
My parents are very strong believers in both paying it forward and decorating it forward. They give graciously to others and just after we decorated their home, they decorated it forward over at my grandma’s retirement home.
My dad went over there and decorated my grandma’s door for her Christmas door contest as well as her walker had some additional Christmas bling!
I am still so impressed by my grandma’s door, I did not even know my dad could decorate! I think that proves if my dad can decorate it forward then anyone can! This is the perfect time of year to decorate it forward for the deserving person in your life.
I enjoyed decorating it forward for my parents and seeing what they did for my grandma.
Have a wonderful day full of decorating it forward! To find out more on Kmart and their mission to decorate it forward, find them on twitter at #KmartHoliday.

That tree is BEAUTIFUL! I love that it is tall and slender, and the bow at the top is perfect. Great job!
And yeah…the door decorations look great! Your dad might just have to take up interior decorating. 😉
