One of the most important things to me right now when it comes to cleaning is that the cleaner I use is safe! Being that I’m pregnant plus have a busy preschooler at home, I need to be sure what I am using is safe for my family. I love that using Heinz Cleaning Vinegar does the trick in just about any thing I could ever wish to be clean in our house! Being that it’s eco-friendly and non-toxic puts it at the top of my list, plus my parents have always used it and passed on their tips to me!
Not only do I love Heinz Cleaning Vinegar because it’s safe but it’s also so affordable! I can easily purchase a large amount of this for under $3 and it will last me months compared to buying small little bottles of products that are $3 and up, lasting just a few weeks.
I was able to find this product at my local Walmart near the vinegar which was located over by the salad dressings. I did find it to be an odd spot since I just assumed it would be with the cleaning products; however, I did find it and was very pleased with the price!
Once I brought it home, I had a mile long list of things I wanted to use to clean with it including the grout in our shower which I have high hopes it will take the mildew that builds up on it off plus I had a variety of things to clean in the kitchen. The first on my kitchen cleaning list, microwave!
When I opened my microwave the particular morning I purchased this, I was greeted with this splatter of food! I have no idea what this is either which makes it even worse. One of my biggest pet peeves is a food coated microwave. When I worked in the corporate world and had a shared microwave in the break room, seeing things like this made me cringe!
It is just the same at home…can you feel my cringe?
Cleaning the microwave with a simple vinegar mixture is one of the quickest and easiest ways I have found to clean! All you need to do is mix 1/2 Cup Heinz Cleaning Vinegar with 1/2 Cup Water, pour it in a microwave safe bowl. Next I heat it up for about 5 minutes in the microwave. Basically you will want it heated just enough to get to a rolling boil and steam up the microwave.
What does this do? It loosens up all that hardened nasty food that sticks to places it just should not be stuck to!
Once it’s nice and steamy, I typically remove the bowl and then dip a rag in the bowl and use it to wipe down the microwave. Be sure and remember that water will be hot so do not dip the entire rag in it just the tip of it to get some of the additional food off the microwave.
Now, look at that it’s nice and clean and my OCD self can rest once again…at least until I walk over to the sink and start cleaning that. That gives me at least 10 seconds of rest, right?

I use vinegar like it is going out of style. I buy the cheapest stuff I can get. I use it in my carpet steam cleaner instead of harsh chemicals (measure it the exact same as the stuff meant for it), I have a spray bottle in my kitchen that is vinegar/water spray for cleaning the counter tops. I use it in my dishwasher where the “rinse aid” goes. I use it in my laundry in the fabric softener slot (can also be used in the blue ball that goes in the washer)–no clothes don’t smell like vinegar and yes most things it is just fine for static control (except things like wind pants and yeah I can’t get rid of static there I don’t think with vinegar).
I’m addicted to it now! So much more affordable than other cleaners!
I love vinegar for cleaning. I use it to make a Dawn dish soap/vinegar mix to clean hard water deposits on our glass shower doors and kitchen sink. Just spray it on, let it sit for a few hours or overnight and wash away. Works beautifully and is so easy and cheap.
I also use vinegar to clean the ice maker area of the fridge, and of course in cooking and homemade salad dressings/marinades.
I buy it by the case at Sam’s Club. So cheap! I get 2 huge jugs in a case for just over $3.
i am off to clean my microwave with your tips…I, too, hate a dirty microwave!!!
