I was introduced to something new this week, Jalapeno Jelly! I know many people love this and have heard of it; however, my husband and I had never tried it. My mom’s friend sent over some and I just knew I had to share the recipe.
My husband and I were pretty shocked by the flavor! I am not a lover of anything spicy, so I was expecting that I would not care for it at all; however it was actually really sweet. It was still a different flavor for me but not bad.
I have heard you can eat this with cornbread and biscuits, although another friend mentioned serving it over a block of cream cheese with crackers. That sounds delicious to me!
Now, are you ready to make some? If you are like us growing Jalapenos this year, you may have an abundance like we do. If so, this is the perfect way to use them! One thing we learned though when cooking with Jalapenos is wearing gloves is a good choice, we quickly found that they can tear up your hands quickly if not protected.
I was going to write up the recipe that she sent me; however, it is similar to the recipe from Sure Jell, be sure and check out their Hot Pepper Freezer Jelly.
Let us know have you tried Jalapeno Jelly? How do you serve it?

in the last paragraph you said the change to make for a milder jelly was to change it from 2/3c peppers to 1c peppers.. that seems backward. Wouldn’t you use the LESSER amount peppers in order to get a milder jelly?
I’ll update that to clarify, I thought the same thing when she was telling me the recipe. I think it’s b/c the 2/3 cup is more of an extra mild.
I buy it in the stores and I also put it with cream cheese and serve on wheat crackers….so yummy! It is really pretty for Christmas if you buy one red, one green. Then pour them over opposite ends of a bar of cream cheese….on a plate. Add a spreader knife and some crackers on the side and you have an easy-peasy appetizer!
Did you use fresh peppers? or Pickled? I’d like to give this a try with the peppers I am growing, but don’t want to pickle them first.
