As I headed out the door this past week, I was contemplating going to the coffee shop and getting an Iced Mocha. Then, I realized I had everything I needed for one in my fridge and that would be one less stop I would have to make.
I love iced coffee, it’s really my favorite more so than hot coffee. I know I may still be in my 20’s but I swear that hot coffee gives me hot flashes! I used to be a visual merchandiser in my early 20’s and I remember being up at 5am working at the store on a display and drinking my hot coffee. It would be below zero and I would be running outside to cool off! Yep…hot flashes. I’m sure they are worse than that too, but back to the coffee.
This is a very simple way to make an iced mocha with a traditional coffee pot as opposed to an espresso machine. If you do like the stronger espresso, you would make it the same way just with 1-2 shots of espresso.
I start by brewing a cup of my favorite coffee. Depending on the size of the cup you plan to pour it into, you’ll need about 1 cup of coffee.
Next I mix 2 Tbsp of Chocolate Syrup, you can use powder as well into 1 cup of hot coffee.
It will melt as you pour it in, the same is true for the powder it will melt and dissolve.
Be sure and stir it up so that it mixes together. Next, fill your desired cup with ice and pour the coffee mixture over it.
I put a lot of ice in my drinks so mine fills this cup about 1/2 way. If you are using 1-2 shots of espresso then you will only fill the cup about 1/3 of the way high; however, since you are using stronger coffee it works out well. If you are using regular coffee as I do, then I like to fill it at least 1/2 way with the coffee mixture.
Lastly, you just pour in milk to make up the additional room in the cup and stir well!
Let’s not forget the whipped cream and drizzle a little chocolate syrup on top for kicks!
Once you brew your coffee or espresso, this just takes about a minute to whip together. I treat myself to these every now and then on my way out the door!
