Did you know that today is National Pi Day? Now, this relates to mathematics, but I say we relate it to food and a big slice of PIE!
As we approach the end to another week, I really could not think of any better way to celebrate than with treating my family to pie for dessert! I stopped by our local grocery store to pick up a Marie Callender’s pie, the hardest part was choosing a flavor. We have had many in the past including the delicious pot pies as well!
Now that I’m gluten free, I treat my family with these on occasion because for the most part they eat gluten free along with me, so I know that they really love getting something ‘not’ gluten free for dessert on occasion too!
A few of the favorites that I noticed at our local grocery store were the Coconut Cream Pie and Banana Cream Pie, both of those are ones that I have not tried yet. I thought they also would pair perfectly with Easter dinner and I wanted to pick up one to take with us.
I picked up the Banana Cream Pie and it did not disappoint. My husband was perfectly happy with me not being able to eat it because he devoured it!
I love that with these pies you simply defrost and serve, no baking involved! That’s always a nice bonus if you have been busy cooking dinner and need a ready made dessert and in this case it’s got the homemade taste! Of course, that’s also dangerous since you can just come home and nibble away on it, at least that’s what I would do. Wouldn’t you?
My husband ate it while relaxing after a long day and sharing a piece with our son too. I am pretty sure my son has my sweet tooth…not sure that’s a good thing or not!

We are headed back to finish off that pie, plus it makes for a great math lesson for my son…food and math that’s a great combination!

We had a Marie Callendar’s restaurant close to our house that my Mom always took us to for a slice of pie. When I started having little ones, we took them there too, so Marie Callender’s has a special place in my heart 🙂
That Banana Cream Pie looks so yummy. Happy Pie Day to you!!
It was delicious! I wish we had a restaurant closer to us!
