As I mentioned in regards to the Peaches, we also picked up some Sweet Vidalia Onions from Lane Southern Orchard in Georgia.
I was very skeptical and excited about these onions. I have had Vidalia onions in the past, but I did not remember them ever tasting so delicious. I could eat them like candy if they were always cooked this way. I had heard of this recipe in the past, so it was finally time to try it! We used these as a side dish with our grilled ribs; however, I also used them in a stir fry as well.
Enjoy these delicious sweet onions!

Grilled Vidalia Onions
Ingredients
- 1 Vidalia Onion
- 1 Beef Bouillon Cube
- 1 Tbsp Butter
- 1 Ice Cube
Instructions
- Peel the outer layer of the onion off and carve a large hole in the middle of the onion. Place the beef bouillon cube in the hole as well as the butter and ice cube. The ice cube is going to allow the onion to become moist. Wrap the onion in a few layers of foil then poke the foil with a fork at the top of the hole to allow the onion to vent. This will grill on medium heat for 30 minutes or until the onion is nice and soft.
- Once it is unwrapped it should just fall right apart into pieces. Eat it just as a side dish by itself or garnish the dinner with it.
