This Easy Gluten Free Green Bean Casserole is a wonderful, comfort side dish.
Oh, how I have missed Green Bean Casserole and those crispy French Fried Onions! This year for Thanksgiving, I set out to make a gluten-free version of Green Bean Casserole; however, it can also be gluten-filled so do not despair.
I have always loved the classic Campbell’s Green Bean Casserole, so I knew I would likely go with that recipe only to switch it up a bit.
This recipe is perfect because it is so incredibly easy and it uses ingredients that are in our cupboards. That is my kind of cooking.
How do you make Gluten Free Green Bean Casserole?
If you plan to make this gluten free, one of the swaps you will need is to use Cream of Mushroom Soup, but you’ll want to do this as Gluten Free Cream of Mushroom Soup.
These soups can be found at Walmart, but you can also make your own Gluten Free Cream of Mushroom Soup too.
How do you make Gluten-Free French Fried Onions?
The one thing I love the most about this casserole is the crispy French Fried Onions, so I decided to adapt Pioneer Woman’s, Onion Strings, recipe. First, I used a mandolin to slice the onions instead of a knife as she does.
I am just not that skilled and a mandolin is so easy to use, assuming you keep all your fingers intact.
Then, I simply switch the flour for gluten-free all-purpose flour.
Now, I am thrilled that I have an alternative for gluten free french fried onions on top of steaks too. I used to always have them on top of steaks until I went gluten free as well.
This recipe is easy too, it only takes a few minutes to fry these up. Now, I have some ideas circulating too for onion rings. That could be a total diet killer though…if this isn’t already.
Now, are you ready for this yummy recipe on your Thanksgiving table?
Be sure to head over to Pioneer Woman for the Onion Strings recipe.
