One of my favorite points in this webinar was learning how to cut the mango. Did you know you can easily find out where the seed is by using the ‘eye’ of the mango as a guide? All you do is simply cut on both sides around the ‘eye’ of the mango then the resulting ovals of mango flesh are known as the “cheeks.” The middle will be basically just the mango seed. Then, you cut parallel slices in the mango flesh, carefully to avoid cutting the skin. Next, simply scoop the mango out with a spoon!
I will admit, I never knew how to properly cut a mango! Knowing that I can easily cut around the seed makes it much easier and less mess!
Six Mango Varieties
- Tommy Atkins
Each variety has a different flavor, texture, color, and shape although most all of them are oval. They range from a sweet and creamy taste to a rich and spicy!
One of the ways that my family enjoys Mango is in this Tropical Salsa! This salsa combines a wonderful array of fruit and then serve it up inside a melon bowl and with corn chips or pita bread chips.
I also have an idea churning in my mind to make Mango Bruschetta! How delicious does that sound in place of tomatoes?
Mangos are available year round which means you can add them to a variety of recipes including shortcake, mango and peach crisp, a mango cranberry sauce, and mango and yams! I have to say that mango and yams may be making its way to our holiday table this year!
Now are you ready try a delicious Mango straight from the National Mango Board?
It’s time to enter to win a wonderful Mango Starter Kit!
