Here is a tip…squash bugs. They aren’t good! We have some squash bugs just feasting away at our squash. We finally had to invest in some safe pest control to keep those pesky bugs out! We lost several squash this past week because of them; however, we still had some more garden goodies come in!
Another tip, it seems simple and common sense but many times it isn’t! Be sure to stay on top of watering over the summer months especially as the heat starts to soar! Those little plants and veggies need all the water they can get!
First, I didn’t get a great picture of it but we had TONS of onions come up! I have already been using them and even made a batch of salsa too!
Although our squash didn’t survive, our cucumbers did! We have one ready, hopefully we have a few more soon!
Next up, our little tomatoes are coming up nicely! I had some in a salad over the weekend…like candy!
These are Big Daddy tomatoes…can’t you tell? Wow! We used some that were ripe on our hamburgers last weekend. Delicious! I’m not even a plain tomato person, but when they are fresh out of the garden they just taste so much better!
Next up, blackberries! These are basically candy to my husband. I’m pretty sure he just picks them and eats them straight off the plant while he’s gardening. I’m not a fruit person so I usually need it mixed into something before I can eat it. I love using these for some blackberry cobbler!
