It’s time, we are in the works of having a lot of dirt hauled in for our garden plus my husband bought some of our first veggies and fruit for our garden. We are getting ready to start planting the onions and then also another blackberry bush. I really enjoyed using the blackberries last year, at least the ones I could get to. I think my husband thinks they are his snack while he is out in the garden so they were gone before I could even use many of them!
I am really excited about the onions too since I use those almost daily in meals. It’s so exciting to me to know that I can save so much at the grocery store, plus know exactly where my fruits and veggies are coming from during gardening season. I am hoping we have a great garden crop this year so that I can freeze a lot of it to use throughout the year.
My son is ready to garden too and put his John Deere to work. I know my husband hopes to one day have a ‘life size’ one but in the meantime…it’s doing it’s job!
My gardener! He is so excited to get started he goes to sleep thinking about the garden and wakes up talking about it! I’m not kidding. I’m actually very excited that he found such a great hobby because I can reap the benefits in the kitchen! I pretty much lost him to the garden last year and seeing as he has pretty much tripled the size of the garden this year I may as well kiss him goodbye until the fall!
Here is the start of our garden. Our dirt was hauled in this past week too, I’ll be sharing more on that next week! This is taking up about 1/3 of our backyard. We will also be putting a fence around it to keep our tomato loving lab and other pesky critters out!
Are you noticing all the ‘WE’ mentions? When I say ‘WE’, I mean my husband. I thought I would just go ahead and get that out there now. I don’t get along with the outdoors. I stick to my herb garden, and I’m perfectly content!
Have you started even thinking about gardening this year? Are you trying it for the first time this year?
Next week, I’ll be sharing more on what we are planting!
