Let’s talk Freezer Cooking. My first few dishes that I chose to freezer cook were Chili Cheese Tater Tots and Tater Tot Casserole. Once, after jumping into freezer cooking, I’m hooked!
I love that by freezer cooking, I am able to make meals ahead that are simple to heat up and serve. Most of us live busy lives and this takes so much stress off of me particularly when it comes to dinner. Another great thing about this is when I am out and my husband is left to feed him and my son, this is easy for him. This is necessary since we all know how it goes with men and multi-tasking, I had to say it!
In saying all this, I am fairly new to freezer cooking, what are some of your favorite meals to cook and freeze for later?

I am fairly new to freezer meals so I’m not sure if I would freeze this before baking or not?? Also, how would I bake or reheat it after it’s been in the freezer?? My hubby loves Tater Tots and just bought a bunch on sale so this would be perfect to start using them!
Click on the link for the chili cheese tater tots and it will tell you exactly how to cook it and reheat. The meat is cooked, then just reheated.
Thanks!!
Freezer cooking is the one of the main ways I dropped 35 pounds! I love it and swear by it. I have been eyeing your tator tot casserole for awhile now. I might just make that this weekend for my girls.
I don’t do a big freezer cooking day like many others. But, what I do do is cook extra and freeze the remaining in dinner size portions. For example, when I make chili, soups, cooked chicken or hamburger; I keep out what we need for dinner that night then freezer the remaining in quart size freezer bags. It is just my husband and I and our almost 17 month old…so we are only really feeding the two of us right now. The baby is primarily baby food fed still. I also cooked up a huge batch of ground hamburger, seasoning half of it with taco seasoning and freezer the meat in batches in the freezer. Then when I need taco meat or regular browned hamburger, it is already cooked and portioned. I just defrost it and add it to my meal or recipe. SO easy…I also do this with baked chicken breasts.
This is a great idea…what type of container, etc. do you recommend to freezer this in? I would like to pull this out the freezer and pop it in the oven and it taste just as good as if it had not been in the freezer..thanks
I typically use freezer safe tupperware. I have found several kinds at the Dollar Store that works as well as Walmart and Target. So far I haven’t had any trouble with them.
