My husband and I noticed that we had a brisket and ribs in our freezer that needed to be cooked. Since my husband LOVES to smoke meats and it just happened to be gorgeous fall weather, we decided we may as well have a fall cookout with family and friends.
My husband used seasoned salt and brown sugar on the brisket and the ribs. He put the brisket on the smoker for 5 hours and the ribs for 2 hours. Judging by the looks of the empty dishes after the night was over, I would say we all enjoyed eating it! It was delicious!
Since I am currently trying to navigate my way through this wonderful world of cooking, I would do something crazy for this cookout! You guessed it, I made everything myself! This is HUGE for me! Before I started this blog, I would have immediately gone to the store and bought everything pre-made. Not this time!
I made my own Slow Cooker BBQ Bacon Beans. I also made garlic roasted corn using corn on the cob, butter, and garlic salt. I wrapped this in foil and put on the smoker for 2 hours. We had various other dishes as well including party mix.
I have to say one of the highlights of the night for myself was the Chocolate Covered Strawberry S’mores. I found this recipe on Hoosier Homemade, which may be one of my favorite sites. Her recipes are incredible and they all make me wish I had more skill for baking! These will now be making a regular appearance at our family cookouts!
In the end the best part of the evening was enjoying time with family and friends! My favorite thing to do!
