Earlier this month, I mentioned that I had teamed up with Champions for Kids to promote Couponing for Good. As part of this simple service project, I chose to donate baby food items to Mend Resource Pregnancy Center.
I have mentioned Mend in the past, it is very near to my heart as I used to volunteer there in college and my brother-in-law’s mother is the original founder. Mend reaches out to mom’s to offer them support, love, and resources throughout their pregnancy as well as after the pregnancy.
They take donations ongoing of all things related to kids and babies for their mom’s to be able to use. I felt strongly that I should donate the baby food I purchased to Mend.
In utilizing coupons and saving on my groceries I was able to easily purchase the baby food items to donate.
Mend makes it easy to donate just like any other organization, you can come by during business hours and drop off your donations. They are sure to go to a deserving family. They offer programs for the parents to earn points for many of their baby items. These programs consist of many different classes that are beneficial to the parents as well as the children.
At the end of the day, my thoughts are that no parent should have to worry about if they are going to be able to feed their children. The children should not have to worry, they should be able to be silly, playful, and imaginative, simply be a kid. We are to work together and help others to ensure that they have the blessing they need to get on their feet again.
We all go through struggles in life and sometimes it is those small blessings that give us the strength we need to get up again. Be a blessing for others and take a simple step to give back because in the end it isn’t about the money you save with coupons, it’s about the lives you save.
