Today’s Cookbook Highlight is, The Pioneer Woman Cooks by Ree Drummond. When I bought this cookbook, I actually bought it because I was having her sign it not necessarily because of the cookbook itself. That is until I opened it up!
At first I wasn’t too sure why I was buying the cookbook since the majority if not all the recipes are on her website too. Then, I was skimming through it and the stories are the real love for me behind this cookbook. I love that it’s not just a cookbook stuffed with recipes. It’s a cookbook stuffed with love, family, and good food.
I also felt like being that I’m born and raised in Oklahoma, many of her stories are ones that I can relate too. We do not live on a ranch; however, we are surrounded by them here and my husband grew up working on a farm and later a ranch hand. It’s not far from us, my husband’s dream is to own a ranch and maybe someday that will happen. Until then, I love to read about the stories of Ree’s ranch as well as cooking up some of her delicious food!
This cookbook will always be a favorite of mine!

I received my copy of Pioneer Woman a month ago, and just tried the BBQ stuffed peppers, they were amazing. How special to get Ree to sign your copy. I love her family values, same qualitys I see in you, thats why I follow your site.
I will have to try that one, and thank you that means a lot too! =)
I LOVE Pioneer Woman! I’ve put her cookbook and autobiography on my Christmas list, I record her Saturday morning show and make my husband watch it with me and I read her blog often. Some of our new family favorites are from her site. I live in the Texas Panhandle, with farming and ranching all around – I’ve always wanted to raise our family on a ranch, but alas I still have live vicariously through Ree! I found your website while reading through someone else’s site and your title intrigued me….after having kids, I too, wanted to make our meals healthier, while I never hated cooking, I did have to work at being a better cook – and I have come to LOVE cooking and being in the kitchen – my kids are now pre-teens – so, you never know what the future will hold! Keep up the good work and it will all pay off in the end! Can’t wait to see what else you will be cooking in the future!
Thanks so much for stopping by!!! I do agree it def grows on you, it’s growing on me. I also love eating the final product!! That’s growing on me too, lol!
