This Chocolate Banana Nut Smoothie Bowl is the perfect choice for the whole family!
General Mills sponsored this post, but all thoughts and opinions are my own.
Mornings are rough, is that how it is in your home? We basically have about 45 minutes from the time the kids get up until we have to be out the door. It’s a crazy rush in the morning. I really do try my hardest to get up earlier so that I can get everything ready to go and make the morning a bit smoother, but some days I’m so tired too! What’s a mom to do? Well, I can tell you preparing these Banana Nut Smoothie Bowls the night before is a great way to get the kids fueled and out the door on time too!
I have super picky eaters, do you? I cook all the time and yet my kids are so particular, they really prefer I make the same few things over and over again. These smoothie bowls though are full of their favorites like bananas, strawberries, nuts, honey, chocolate, and of course Banana Nut Cheerios too.
Smoothie Bowls are just the best idea ever; let’s face it, why didn’t we all think of this sooner? I like to prepare the blender the night before for these, you can actually have it all ready to go and in the fridge, then just blend in the morning and top with your favorite toppings. It really takes less than 5 minutes.
To make the smoothie portion of the bowl, I like to combine about 1 1/2 cups of Greek Yogurt with Coconut Milk, Banana Nut Cheerios, Cocoa Baking Powder, and a bit of ice. I prefer ice, but that of course is optional. These will be much more of a consistency of rich chocolate milk; however, you can thicken them by adding a frozen banana. My kids like them runnier and I like mine thick, so I will add in a banana to mine. It’s very customizable, which happens to be fabulous for picky ones.
When I know we are going to be making a mad dash out the door, I prep the fruit earlier in the week. I cut up the strawberries and have those in a sealed container ready to go. Then, I have a little bowl of pecan halves and sliced banana. We always have Banana Nut Cheerios on hand in the pantry and thankfully they are gluten-free too, which makes them a win in our home. A drizzle of honey adds to the sweetness of the bowl, then mix it together and eat up!
This is power packed with all sorts of good for you foods that is sure to fuel not only the kids but parents too as they head off for the day. Many times it’s hours before the kids eat again, so a nutrient-dense breakfast is a must to keep them ready to focus for the day.
Right now if you head out to Walmart, you can get this great back to school offer on General Mill Cereals that includes these Banana Nut Cheerios or maybe you want to try the new Shreds? Those would be great for a smoothie bowl too.
