This year, my son is nearly three and just about old enough that he may survive a night of camping with my husband. Why my husband and son? Well, I’m not a camper!
I may try it at some point, but the thought of bugs just inches from my face, EEEK! In the past my husband has gone camping with his guy friends, or I have come along then left right before it was time to go to sleep. It never fails though there is some strange storm that comes churning in each time he goes camping.
This year, he bought his first boat and is looking forward to taking our son on his first camping and fishing trip.
I know many of you go camping as well, so I thought today I would round up a few of my favorites that can easily be cooked outside around the campfire.
Grilled French Fried Onion Steaks
These are merely a few of my favorites! As far as veggies, we simply put the veggies in a foil pack with a little olive oil and garlic then roast them on the grill.
I have learned that major things to bring for cooking on a camping trip are a cast iron skillet and foil. Foil packs are the way to go, plus just about anything can be cooked in the cast iron skillet.
Are you planning to go camping this year? What types of foods do you make when camping?

Oh we love camping. We go almost every weekend in the summer! We do a lot of the same style recipes you linked up. Last year we invested in a portable grill, we found ourselves getting rain every time we camp, and when you rely on a fire for food it was difficult. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for your delicious recipes, like the cheesy taters! They look so yummy, my children will love them. We can’t wait to go camping this summer, it’s almost here. This year we got our Tailgater coming along as well since I am a reality TV fanatic. It’s a great camping buddy since it has a quick set-up and a weather resistant cover. I plan on even inviting a few of my co-workers from DISH to join in on the fun!
