This past weekend, I was sent out on a challenge to build an Easter basket at Kmart. Although, Easter is important to my family most importantly for the Resurrection of Jesus, we also enjoy the activities that Easter brings. These activities for us include family dinners, Easter egg hunts, and a basket dropped off by the Easter Bunny.
We already participated in one egg hunt this weekend, plus we have two more this week. I knew that with the busy week, we needed to get the Easter basket filled.
I prefer to build my own Easter basket for my son so that I can add a few candy choices that I approve of since he is a toddler. I also like to build my own, because we build them for my nephews and food allergies are an obstacle there. I want to be sure that each child can enjoy the candy and goodies they receive.
To build these baskets I headed to Kmart in hopes of spending less than $30 and saving a bundle! I checked the sales ad before going. Plus, when we arrived at the store, I was happy to find that the majority of the Easter items were on sale.
Not only does Kmart have sales, they also have a Shop Your Way rewards card that can be used to rack up points which turn into savings! I noticed signs for the card as soon as I walked in the door!
My husband and I shopped the Easter aisles for a while, debating what to get each child. We finally agreed that each child should get a plush animal and a few candies. We also got my son a toothbrush and Playdough. Be sure to check out my full shopping trip in pictures over on Google +. By the time we left, we spent just over $30 and saved around $20!
As soon as we got home it was time to decorate the baskets and hide them until Easter Sunday!
I have a feeling these little boys are going to enjoy what the bunny dropped off for them this year!
