Did you know that this dish right here, Beef Goulash, is what started this entire website? A few facts for your day, when I came up with the idea to start this website we were eating a variation of this dish almost every other day. It is why my husband was complaining that all he ever ate were noodles!
Luckily, now we rarely eat this and it’s a go to meal for us on busy nights or on pantry cooking nights when we are just using what we have on hand to whip something up! It’s such a simple meal, plus typically it’s a kid friendly meal too! Another great thing about this recipe is it does not require the oven.
If you are eating gluten free I use Tinkyada Medium Shells for this recipe and unfortunately, you have to forego that lovely piece of garlic toast in the picture.
Enjoy!

Beef Goulash
Ingredients
- 1 lb of Medium Shells
- 1 Jar of Spaghetti Sauce
- 1 lb of Ground Beef
- Shredded Mozzarella
Instructions
- First, I boil the medium shells on the stove until al dente, using a large stock pot. While these are cooking, I cook the ground beef in a skillet, you can also use ground turkey. This time I just warmed up my pre cooked ground beef crumbles from National Steak and Poultry. Then, I heat up the spaghetti sauce for 2 minutes in the microwave. I drain the noodles and the beef and mix them together in the pot, stirring in the warm spaghetti sauce. I serve this topped with mozzarella cheese and a side salad with garlic bread and you have dinner…and probably a lot of leftovers too!
- Another nice change to this meal is putting the mixture in a baking dish, top with mozzarella cheese and bake in the oven on 350* for about 20 minutes. This makes it taste more like a casserole style dish.

This looks great! I usually do some sort of variation on this for days when I’m really busy, and it’s nice to see someone else in the same boat.
