Make these EASY Gluten-Free BBQ Potato Chip Chicken Tenders in just about 30 minutes, an easy and tasty dinner!
One of my favorite ways to make chicken tenderloins is with this simple recipe for BBQ Potato Chip Chicken Tenders. These can be made with ANY chips, so if you want to use regular potato chips or even cheddar sour cream, those would work great too.
This recipe takes just about 10 minutes to prepare and then 25 minutes to bake, once they are done, carefully remove and serve with your favorite dipping sauce.
What gluten-free barbecue chips should you use?
Use your favorite brand of barbecue potato chips. The Kettle Brand is a great choice. I have not had an issue with Lay’s Barbecue Chips; however, that one is controversial as it’s not labeled gluten-free.
Kettle Chips or Wavy Potato Chips can be used too, the chips are going to be crushed potato chips to bread the chicken with. That means whatever type you use, there will be 4 cups of crumbs when breading the chicken.
Be sure to read all ingredients thoroughly before using to be sure there is no cross-contamination.
As mentioned above, other chips can be used too like regular chips, cheddar sour cream, or other flavors of choice.
What dipping sauce should you use for Potato Chip Chicken Tenders?
A variety of dipping sauces can be used with these chicken tenderloins. I love honey mustard sauce but there are several to choose from.
- Honey Mustard Sauce
- BBQ Sauce
- Ranch Dressing
- Buffalo Sauce
Choose any dipping sauces that you would prefer.
Tips for Making Potato Chip Chicken Tenders:
This recipe will use chicken tenderloins, these are boneless, skinless tenders. Think of these as Potato Chip Chicken Fingers, then they will be coated with crushed potato chips.
It’s best to use a rimmed baking sheet, it can be coated with nonsticking baking spray or lined with foil.
In a shallow bowl, the sour cream, garlic salt, onion powder, and paprika will be combined. Then in a second bowl, combine the crushed chips and parmesan cheese. If you are looking to reduce calorie content, use low-fat or nonfat sour cream.
The chicken strips will be coated with the sour cream mixture and then dipped in the crushed chips mixture. Each one will be placed on the prepared baking sheet.
Once they are on the baking sheet, carefully pour the melted butter over each chicken tender, just a light coating of butter.
When ready to bake, we have found it’s best NOT to rotate the chicken tenders during the cooking time. The breading stays on better without rotating and they are very crispy.
The internal temperature can be checked with a meat thermometer and should be at least 165 degrees F to be considered done. Let them rest for 2-3 minutes and then serve with your favorite dipping sauce.
We like to serve ours with Air Fryer Sweet Potato Fries.
This is such an easy dish to bake in the oven and the kids will LOVE them. I know mine do…and so do I!
