The best cut would be to use a beef chuck or chuck roast. It’s actually cut from the cow’s shoulder and gives a great flavor and is tender too.
Do you need to brown the roast before cooking in the slow cooker?
This is all based on preference, and it is not necessary. I actually skip this step because for me when I use my slow cooker, I want to do all the cooking in one place and not add unnecessary steps. If you prefer to though, by all means, brown the meat first.
If you use a Ninja Foodi as I do now, it’s easy to do this step in the Ninja Foodi on saute, and then switch right to the slow cooker without ever taking the meat out of the pot.

This Slow Cooker Roast Beef will be done in 8 hours, depending on the size of the meat it can also be done in 6; however, we typically cook this on low for 8 hours. It can also be cooked on high for 4 hours.
