Before I move into today’s post, let me get this off my chest.
My daughter is 1 year old today! I can’t believe it. I know all parents say that, but it’s true…I can’t. Last year on this date, my husband and I were sitting at the doctor wondering if we would have a baby that day or be sent home because I kept having contractions but it wasn’t time yet. Just a quarter before midnight, it was time…and our baby girl was born!
I’ll be sharing with you an update from her birthday party this weekend and this past year next week.
Now…I can move on.
On Christmas morning one of my favorite traditions in our family is our morning breakfast. We go all out on Christmas morning making special breakfast treats along with a full on country breakfast of sorts! I shared earlier this week my Breakfast Pie that I plan to make this Christmas. We include all the fixings, my husband and son set the table and we enjoy a big breakfast. It’s basically enough to hold us over until dinner time.
We have done this for many years and we continue to each Christmas. It’s my favorite part of Christmas morning. I try each year to be sure that we are not scheduled to be anywhere Christmas morning except home as a family. We enjoy the surprise of the presents from Santa in the mornings along with the Christmas story and then our family breakfast.
After that it’s a day filled with a toasty fire and playing and typically re-arranging to fit in the new toys.
I thought I would share with you a few of our favorite breakfast items that are perfect for holiday breakfast. We even had our family over one year to join us in our big Christmas breakfast! It was a blast making homemade biscuits, eggs, bacon, sausage, hashbrowns, and all the fixings!

Yum—thanks!
Happy Birthday to your little sweetheart, I hope she has a wonderful day!
We too have made a big breakfast the highlight of our Christmas. We serve scrambled eggs, sausage patties, bacon, biscuits and gravy, Paula Deen’s praline French toast casserole, sparkling cider and orange juice. If one of our three adult children and family aren’t here, they’re always so disappointed that they miss out. It takes so much pressure off of us for the rest of the day.
Happy birthday to your little one!
