I would say the majority of recipes on my site are fairly healthy; however, what do you do when you need a very quick healthy meal? Many people that get in a hurry and need something fast including myself many times, drive thru the local fast food restaurant picking up that burger and fries! The problem for me is that meal just goes straight to my thighs along with what it may be doing to my heart along the way. Now, don’t get me wrong I like my burger and fries but moderation is key!
That’s what leads me to this post on Healthy Choice dinners! Did you know that they have recently introduced a new Top Chef line of Healthy Choice meals. The varieties are endless and you can find many pictures of the different varieties along with my Walmart shopping trip over on Google +.
I decided to pick up several for my husband who is a truck driver in our area. The reason I picked these up for him is because many times he gets home just after lunch time and needs something to hold him over until dinner time. He is quick to pick up unhealthy fast food items and I wanted him to have some healthy options.
We decided to try out the Top Chef Cafe Steamers. These are awesome as you simply heat them up just as they are right out of the package. Then, the sauce is on the bottom of the bowl and is ready to mix in as soon as it comes out of the microwave.
This meal gave my husband the perfect portion to hold him over until dinner time, plus it was healthy!
Now, let’s get on to my FAVORITE new item from Healthy Choice…Frozen Greek Yogurt. I can’t even begin to tell you how amazing this is. My almost 4 year old was downing it as fast as I was!
With flavors like Raspberry, Honey, Vanilla, and Chocolate…how could you go wrong? I picked up Dark Fudge Swirl and Raspberry to try. I love that there are 3 to a box which is nice.
Now, what is my favorite part? They are only 100 calories!! I have a sweet tooth and it gets me in trouble, I keep a secret or not so secret stash of chocolate chips in my fridge at all times just for me to have throughout the day. Of course, I don’t eat it all in a day…but I need something healthy that I can snack on too.
These are perfect as it’s Greek Yogurt with just enough sweetness to satisfy my sweet tooth. Plus, I get lots of good nutrients in the yogurt too. It tasted like ice cream. I love that I was able to give it to my son too and he enjoyed it just as much and knew that he was getting a burst or nutrients too!
Just taking pictures of this was difficult…notice it was disappearing before my eyes. I think the girl behind the camera kept sneaking bites, surely that wasn’t me. I gave in to my limited dairy diet and indulged in one of these!
There you have it…within minutes it was gone.
Along with eating healthy, I am also working to get exercise back into my routine again. I have to say I walked a mile the other day and the fact that I was gasping for air by the end was completely depressing when I used to be able to ride my bike or walk MILES…not just ONE! So, my goal this year is to get back into shape by eating healthy and exercise combined. These sweet treats and Healthy Choice meals will help me avoid the temptation of take out too!
