I made these Grilled Vidalia Onions many years ago; however, we have been enjoying this recipe ever since! I wanted to highlight it again today as FINALLY I updated the pictures, so the onions look much better now.
These can simply be made on the grill alongside your meats that you are preparing, they make the perfect side dish and if you are like me, you can eat them like candy. I was completely shocked the first time I had these as I was not expecting to like onions THAT much. I was very wrong, they are absolutely incredible.
They are soft, tender, juicy, and sweet. I love adding them alongside steaks and chicken during the summer months. Have you had a Grilled Vidalia Onion before? If not, it’s time to try it!

Grilled Vidalia Onions
Ingredients
- 1 Vidalia Onion
- 1 Beef Bouillon Cube
- 1 Tbsp Butter
- 1 Ice Cube
Instructions
- Peel the outer layer of the onion off and carve a large hole in the middle of the onion. Place the beef bouillon cube in the hole as well as the butter and ice cube. The ice cube is going to allow the onion to become moist. Wrap the onion in a few layers of foil then poke the foil with a fork at the top of the hole to allow the onion to vent. This will grill on medium heat for 30 minutes or until the onion is nice and soft.
- Once it is unwrapped it should just fall right apart into pieces. Eat it just as a side dish by itself or garnish the dinner with it.
