Just before Christmas Eve, I decided I was going all-in with my diet, exercise, and overall health. I’m only 33 and already have to be on a cholesterol lowering medicine due to genetics; however, it does not help that I’m about 50 pounds overweight for my height. It finally occurred to me that it isn’t about convenience anymore, it’s about my quality of life. I don’t like that I’m out of breathe after climbing our stairs or suddenly everything I wear just feels uncomfortable. The kicker though is the back pain, this past year I’ve had extreme back pain, I didn’t realize though that it’s from the extra weight!
Now, for an eye opener, I’m 25 pounds more than I was when I was 9 months pregnant, that means essentially I’m carrying twins 24/7…no wonder my back hurts! That was really the icing on the cake for me as far as eye opening moments. The majority of my weight gain occurred about a year or two ago during a very stressful time, it’s interesting that even when you don’t eat much because of stress somehow it catches up with you. So, I look at this year as my time to get my quality of life back, my overall health. I do want to drop 50 pounds and I fully intend too but I also want to change my diet. I’ve realized that what I’m cooking really isn’t the problem, it’s the snacks that I eat throughout the day that are. My goal isn’t to be a certain size or be ‘skinny’ it’s simply to be healthy and feel comfortable in my own skin again, I shouldn’t have this back pain every single day and loosing the weight is going to help that.
