Hawaiian Strawberry Kiwi Smoothie with Silk

As we enter the new year, not only am I trying to eat healthier but I have also gone primarily dairy free.  Why?  My daughter has a dairy intolerance, so I had to alter my diet for a while.  Luckily, Silk has great dairy free alternatives that I have fallen in love with.  I’m taking part in their current campaign this year to rethink what I drink, for me it was simple because I need to cut dairy and they are the perfect alternative!  I have been substituting coconut milk in a variety of recipes since I had my daughter last month.

My favorite right now is the Silk Coconut; however, my family enjoys many of their products!

Recently, I tried a new smoothie recipe with Silk Almond and Coconut milk, it turned out fabulous!

A great way to get in nutrition along with feeding picky eaters like those in my household is with smoothies!  I can easily add all sorts of ingredients to a smoothie and my son thinks it is the best thing ever.  Not only is my son picky, so am I.  He gets so excited to drink a smoothie and so does his mommy.  Plus, right now I’m very busy so I rarely get a lunch break and having smoothies on hand works out well to get a boost throughout the day.


This Hawaiian Smoothie gave me the best of both worlds; I got my nutrients and am able to day dream about being on the sandy beaches of Hawaii even in the middle of winter!

Another thing I like to add to my smoothies is spinach, although it makes them green it adds a lot of nutrients and veggies without adding a strange flavor.  I keep frozen spinach on hand for this very reason.

    Sounds yummy! I have a suggestion, though. . .if you find a good price on fresh strawberries, freeze them & use them as fruit & in place of the ice cubes! (I do use the frozen strawberries from the grocery store when fresh ones are reasonably priced.) I do it with a smoothie I make & I don’t get pieces of the ice that weren’t crushed, I get bits of strawberry that just punch up the flavor! :-)
