Baked Apple Cinnamon Doughnuts

Have I mentioned before how much I love Baked Doughnuts?  I also love that this Baked Vanilla Doughnut recipe is so easily adaptable into any flavor you may want!

I have several ideas for new flavors for fall baked doughnuts, but the first thing I wanted to do was try these doughnuts with Better Batter Gluten Free All Purpose Flour!  I have been craving them like crazy but was not sure if they would turn out the same.  Luckily, they did!  So, now I have a new reason to come up with several different flavors of baked doughnuts!

For those not gluten free simply use your regular flour and enjoy the deliciousness!

Baked Apple Cinnamon Doughnuts

Baked Apple Cinnamon Doughnuts

Yield: 6 Doughnuts

Ingredients:

  • 1 Cup Flour (or Gluten Free All Purpose Flour)
  • 6 Tbsp Sugar
  • 1 Tsp Salt
  • 6 Tbsp Skim Milk
  • 1/4 Tsp White Vinegar
  • 1 Tsp Baking Powder
  • 1 Egg
  • 1/2 Tsp Vanilla
  • 1/2 Tsp Cinnamon
  • 1/3 Cup Applesauce
  • 1 Tbsp Butter, Melted

Topping:

  • 1 Tsp Cinnamon
  • 1 Tsp Sugar
  • 1 Tbsp Butter, Melted

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 325*.
  2. In a large mixer add in the dry ingredients then mix in the wet ingredients until the batter is well combined.
  3. Spray a Doughnut Pan with bake easy and then using either a spoon or a decorators bag, pipe in the doughnut batter. These typically need to be about 3/4 full to allow a little room for the doughnut to rise.
  4. Bake these in the oven 10 minutes or until nice and brown.
  5. While the doughnuts are baking set aside the melted better in a bowl. Then, mix together the cinnamon and sugar for the topping.
  6. Once the doughnuts have cooled drizzle the melted butter over the doughnuts and dip them in the cinnamon sugar mixture to coat them.

    These look so good ;)
    I just assumed making doughnuts at home required yeast or more work. A doughnut pan will be on my Christmas list!

    These look amazing! I love doughnuts but since I’m trying to watch my weight I try not to eat the fried ones. I just bought a doughnut pan on clearance at Gordmans last week so I definitely gonna try these recipe. Thanks for sharing.

    Yum, my kids love doughnuts but I have never tried making them at home. This recipe sounds and looks delicious, I just may have to invest in a pan so we can try it.
