Renuzit Tempting Indulgences and Creme Brulée Pie in a Jar

This weekend, I received Renuzit Tempting Indulgence Creme Brulée fragrance in the mail.  As part of this challenge I was to create a recipe that was inspired based on this scent.  I already had in mind exactly what I thought of when I thought Creme Brulée, that was to make individual pies in a jar!

The wonderful thing about these delicious creations is that they can be given as gifts too a pie in the jar paired with one of Renuzit’s Tempting Indulgences.  All you need to do is add a little decorative tag to them and you have a wonderful gift!  As soon as I made these I immediately thought teacher gifts especially as the kids head back to school, this would be a great little gift to bless your teacher with on the first day.  I am sure by the end of the day she will be more than happy to enjoy an individual pie!

cream brulee pie in a jarThe jars I used for these are half pint size jars.  They are perfect for individual size pies and can be picked up at your local Walmart.  To see my entire shop including the jars that I purchased head on over to my Google + story.

For this recipe I decided to use the Pillsbury refrigerated pie crust.  I used both crust to make the 8 pies, you may have additional too depending on the amount that you use to make a few extras.

creme brulee pie in a jarcreme brulee pie in a jarcreme brulee pie in a jarTo make this pie, I simply adapted a basic Creme Brulée pie, I had to adjust the method to account for the jars as opposed to a basic pie crust.  They turned out perfectly and just as I had hoped.  I was able to make 8 servings with 2 pie crust that included the inside of the jar with crust as well as the top.

Be sure and remember when making a pie in a jar, that you need to have a vent on the top of the crust.  In order to do this you can get creative and use cookie cutters to make decorative shapes or you can use a knife and simply cut slits.  I did a few with a basket weave too.  Then, to garnish my pies I added homemade whipped cream and ground cinnamon.

    I’ve never had crème brûlée PIE before…I love the creaminess of the custard and the crunch of the caramelized sugar topping. Have you tried it in a jar the “traditional” way? Thanks!
