A few months back I told my sister she should do a flash back post of old pictures of her growing up just to get a little personality on her blog. Shortly after I told her this, I thought that was a good idea and I should do it too. Sometimes I have good ideas like that.
So, today, I’m laying it all out there, the good, the bad, and the ugly, all the random facts about me or maybe just a few!
1. That Pillow has a Face.
So, you know those pillow people that used to be around many years ago? I had one, my grandma actually bought it for me at a garage sale. The bad thing about it, I couldn’t let it go! Between both my mom and myself, the entire pillow had been re-sewn and re-stuffed more times than should have been legal.
It was not the pillow person I was attached to, it was the perfect place to rest my arm when I slept and it was perfectly formed to fit my arm. This picture was on vacation at a cabin we were staying at.
Now, I’m going to admit the scary part, I did not actually toss the pillow person until I got married! I guess at that point I replaced it with a real person who happens to be a great armrest, that and he was a little freaked out when realizing the girl he married had a pillow with a face on it. Yep…weird, I know.
2. Best Friend for a Lifetime.
I met my best friend in Kindergarten, then the friendship just stuck. We have now been friends over 22 years and have literally gone through life together. We became closer as we entered middle school and moved into the same neighborhood, then we just grew from there.
We went through bad times and good times. We are also the most completely opposite people you will ever meet, we have since decided that is what makes us work so well. On another note, we have performed an insane amount of crazy acts together.
One night we went to the book store and decided to read some insane romance books. Did you know there is a book on Dating for Dummies? I probably needed that. Oh and yes the books are upside down. I have no idea why.
Likely one of the most daring things we did, jumping out of a plane 10,000 Feet in the air. It was thrilling and an experience neither of us will ever forget. The scariest part was the plane!
One night we were out with our friends and we beat them to Denny’s. So, we had this bright idea that we would talk to the waitresses and see if they’d let us pretend to come out and take our friends order. They agreed and thought it was hilarious especially since it had to have been at least midnight maybe later. I am sure they thought we were great entertainment.
At least we were together. That’s what friends are for, we have been through it all…together. That’s a friendship I am beyond blessed to have.
3. IBWEIRD.
Yes, did I mention I am weird? This was my license plate on my car when I turned 16. Maybe something inside of me thought that by having this on my license plate it screamed to the world of high school, that I just do not care what you think…or maybe I really just was weird. Who knows…moving on.
4. The Crash of 2003.
Say so long to my IBWEIRD vehicle, this is the result of singing at the top of your lungs and then someone pulls out in front of you. Oh yes, but it is still your fault since you hit them from behind. Did I mention it all took place in front of a cemetery? Creepy.
I am fairly certain that had I not been in college, my dad would have likely grounded me for life and then some. It was a total loss, moved on to another vehicle, that is still in the family. It has also been passed about through the family, it’s like old faithful.
5. Mingling with the Famous.
This was me with Michael W. Smith sometime in the 90′s at a concert with Third Day. My dad managed to win us back stage passes to meet him.
Growing up and even now my dad has been a huge fan of music although he is not a musician. If you mention a band he could tell you everything about them as well as all of their songs. I remember his record collection, Eight Tracks, Tapes, and CDs. I can not begin to tell you the thousands that he had. We would go to the music store and be there for hours while he listened to new music and read the entire album cover and all the lyrics to the songs.
I went to more concerts in my childhood then most go to in their entire lifetime, and somehow we always met the musicians.
6. To Date or Not to Date.
My husband and I have an interesting story, just like most of us we all have our love story. Maybe one day I’ll share it but in summary, I only dated 2 people. Ever.
My parents never had to enforce rules for dating on me, I never dated. At many points during high school, I thought there must be something wrong with me. I had those typically thoughts of ‘Am I too ugly? Too fat?’ Oh the things I wish I could go back and tell that girl now.
Then, as I got into college, I realized that I said ‘No’…a lot. Maybe I just knew the type of guy I saw myself with or maybe I was just scared…who knows. My first date was at age 20. I may have been overly picky but it paid off so that’s a good thing.
I dated one person before my husband which lasted just a few short weeks, then my heart got broken. I always think it’s funny now to see how God always does work for the ‘good of those who love Him.’
That night after the break up, I headed to our local coffee shop to meet up with one of my friends. Shortly after I got there, he then called his friend, Steven, to meet us up there and hang out. When Steven showed up we all went to Bennigan’s and he bought me a piece of cheesecake to cheer me up.
Two months after that we were dating, two years later we were married, and nearly 6 years of marriage later and over 8 years of friendship he is still the love of my life. Who ever knew a slice of cheesecake and a broken heart could change your life?
The End.
I hope you enjoyed these random facts, I am sure I’ll share more again soon!
Have a wonderful day!

Awesome. Michael W. Smith, huh? I met him once. Nice guy. Growing up in GA, I am very familiar with Third Day. Went to see them all the time when they first started. I even got to open for them once.
Very nice! Yes, my dad was in to all types of music but the majority of concerts I remember were in the Christian Music Industry world.
