Milky Way Mocha
After working in a coffee shop for many years, I learned to make numerous different drinks. The one piece of information that many seem to think about coffee shops is that the drinks are complicated; however, that really is not true at all. The majority of the drinks have a base recipe which is steamed milk and espresso, the rest is just added flavors and different types of milk. I learned quickly that although you may think it takes you 10 minutes to say all that you want when you order a coffee drink, to the barista it is not that difficult to make.
I made this Milky Way Mocha with my espresso machine; however, you can do this without one too.
In a coffee mug, I poured in caramel sauce up to 1/4 inch in the bottom of the mug. I prefer the caramel sauce as oppose to the syrup, which is found with the ice cream toppings at the grocery store. In my steaming pitcher, I poured in 1/2 cup of milk with 2 Tbsp of powdered chocolate. I steamed this up to 140* using the steamer on my espresso machine. Then, I made my espresso.
I poured the espresso in my mug. I used a spatula to hold back the foam on my frothed chocolate milk and poured that in. Stir well, top with whipped cream and drizzle with caramel sauce.
To make this without an espresso machine simply heat the milk and chocolate just as you would hot chocolate and use brewed coffee instead of espresso.
I paired this with Chocolate Chip Biscotti and had a delicious sweet treat! This biscotti was my first biscotti recipe to try and I plan to use this as a base recipe and try many different flavors. Next on my list is white chocolate cranberry biscotti with a vanilla latte. Yummy!
