I decided to try homemade calzone this past weekend, and it was delicious!
Ingredients:
- 1 Can of Pizza Dough (in refrigerator aisle at grocery store)
- 8 oz Spaghetti Sauce (1/2 a Jar)
- 12 Slices of Pepperoni (more/less depending on preference)
- 1/2 Package Cooked Ground Sausage
- 1 Cup of Mozzarella Cheese
- 1 Tbsp Olive Oil
- 1/2 Tsp Oregano
- 1/2 Tsp Garlic Powder
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375*.
This is a very easy recipe and can be modified to fit your taste as far as pizza goes!
In a small bowl, mix olive oil, oregano, and garlic powder, then place aside.
Spray non stick cooking spray on a large cookie sheet. Roll out the dough in a circle, and spread the spaghetti sauce around the entire surface of the dough. Then cover with the toppings. For us we used cheese, sausage, and pepperoni. Once the toppings are on then take one side of the dough and pull over to the other side, making a semi-circle. To seal the edges, you can use a fork or any other grooved utensil.
Once this is done, I poured the olive oil mixture over the dough to cover the top.
Bake for 15 minutes.
This baked in the oven for 15 minutes or until brown. We served this with a side salad. This is a very affordable meal and you can almost always find coupons for the pizza dough.
Enjoy!
