My husband decided to get back into the kitchen a few days ago and make some fried catfish. We found this Crunchy Catfish Nugget recipe on All Recipes that looked perfect to fix for both ourselves and our son.
He did make a few changes after reading the reviews, we noticed it was a common complaint that there was a lack of taste.
Ingredients:
- 4 6oz Catfish Fillets
- 1/2 Cup Dry Bread Crumbs
- 1/2 Tsp Lemon Pepper
- 1/2 Cup Egg Substitute
- 4 Tbsp Vegetable oil
- 1/4 Tsp Salt
- 1/2 Cup Lemon Juice
Directions:
He started off by mixing the bread crumbs, pepper, and salt in a bowl. Then, he mixed the egg substitute and lemon juice in another bowl. He dipped the catfish in the liquid ingredient bowl and then into the dry ingredient bowl. He followed this exactly as the original recipe.
He placed 2 catfish in the skillet with 2 Tbsp of oil, as he was frying this he began to use the spatula to break apart the catfish into small nugget size pieces. He fried this on both sides until the fish was flaky. He repeated these same steps for the next 2 fillets.
This was complimented well with a dipping sauce, we used tarter sauce. We added green beans for a side.
I do not fry food often, so this was a nice treat. My son also loved it and the nugget size pieces were perfect for him.
